We are happy to welcome Mieke Decorte as a speaker on the second day of EGATEC on 19 June 2024 about biomethane as a part of the future energy mix. She briefly answered three questions for us with an insight into potential synergies between biomethane and hydrogen.

Andrea has 25-years’ experience in the energy and gas sector in strategic, development, commercial, regulatory and transition matters.
He was key in Snam M&A activities to promote international expansion. Among these, he had a primary role in fostering the Southern Gas Corridor development.
In the last years he promoted energy transition projects like Gas for Climate 2050 and the setup of Snam CNG and biomethane activities. He also promoted Snam Global Solutions business unit founded to support gas markets development and optimization worldwide and, in specific, the set-up of Snam cooperation in China.
He is serving as International Gas Union Executive Committee member since 2015 and has recently been elected as IGU President for 2025-2028 and is serving as IGU Vice President from 2021.
We already had the opportunity to speak with Andrea Stegher in advance. He will kick off the conference with a keynote on 18 June 2024. In our interview, he answers three questions and summarises main aspects for the energy transition: Gas is one of the foundations for reducing CO2 emissions. But this success also depends on our managing to phase-out of coal.
Barbara Jinks partners in this interview and emphasises the central role of incentives and global collaboration in promoting certified hydrogen use and trade. At EGATEC, her focus will be on clarifying misconceptions and promoting global communication on hydrogen certification.
